Explore The Arizona Desert At Sabino Canyon Recreation Area

Nestled in the shadow of the Santa Catalina Mountains, just outside downtown Tucson, beautiful Sabino Canyon Recreation Area is a spectacular place for exploration and fun. Enjoy a narrated 45-minute tram tour or a day of hiking, biking, and horseback riding on the Bear Canyon Trail. Winding through the canyon, the trail passes native plants, towering rock formations, picnic spots, and stone bridges at Sabino Creek before reaching the drop-off overlooking Hutch's Pool swimming hole. Be sure to stop by the Visitor's Center to learn more about the park, enjoy hands-on exhibits, and pick up souvenirs.

Prices -

Park admission is $5 per vehicle. Tram fees are $10 adults; $5 children (3-12). Children 2 and under ride free.
 

Hours - 

The park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The Visitor's Center is open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.

  • Is There A Place Where I Can Buy Souvenirs?

    The Visitors Center offers a gift shop that stocks a variety of souvenirs and other items. Here you can purchase books, audio CDs and videos, mementos of Sabino Canyon and Southern Arizona, and find inexpensive trail, canyon and local area maps. The center also stocks a choice of free brochures and handouts for your convenience.
  • Are There Tours Available?

    Yes, you can take a 45-minute narrated tram tour through the scenic canyon. Tram tours load at the Visitor’s Center every 30 minutes during regular operating hours. Once on the tour, riders may remain on board or get off at the top and enjoy a hike back down. Biking enthusiasts will enjoy the evening bike tours, offered three nights per month from April-December. Call (520) 749-2327 for more information or to book an evening tour.
