Visit Mission San Xavier Del Bac - The White Dove Of The Desert

Constructed in 1776, Mission San Xavier del Bac is one of the most outstanding examples of Mexican Baroque architecture in the country. Situated along the banks of the Santa Cruz River, in the center of a historic Tohono O'odham Indian settlement located 10 miles outside of Tucson, Mission San Xavier del Bac is an active Catholic church and popular pilgrimage site. Featuring a brilliant white stucco exterior, an ornately decorated entrance, brightly colored religious paintings, sculptures, carvings, and frescoes, this magnificent Spanish-style mission is the oldest European structure in Arizona and hosts over 200,000 visitors each year.
